does switchwise ask for my credit card or bank details?
No, the energy suppliers with which we work do not require us to collect payment information from you at this stage. You can choose to pay your bills by a variety of methods when you receive your electricity bill (every 3 months) or your gas bill (every 2 or 3 months). If you choose a plan with a monthly billing arrangement then you will have to agree the amount of each monthly payment with your new supplier. They will then send you a form to complete to arrange a direct debit from your bank account or credit card.
does switchwise perform a credit check?
No, Switchwise does not credit check but your new supplier might perform a credit check when assessing your application to switch. Even if your new supplier does not perform a credit check your current supplier might object to your switch if you have any debts owing to them.
what if I owe money to my current supplier?
If you are in arrears with your current supplier (i.e. you have unpaid bills) they may make an objection when your new supplier requests to transfer your energy account(s). This means that you might not be able to transfer to your new supplier until your debts have been repaid or, if you have a disputed bill, until the dispute has been resolved. If the issue cannot be resolved, we recommend that you contact the energy ombudsman in your State or Territory.
