Some States and Territories offer concessions to eligible consumers to help them meet their gas bills.
victoria
The Victorian State Government's Winter Energy rebate offers a 17.5% discount on mains electricity and mains gas bills issued during a six-month period between May and November. This rebate is available to customers who hold a:
- Pensioner Concession Card
- Health Care Card
- Gold Card (except Dependant)

The Energy Accounts Payment Assistance programme provides short-term relief for disadvantaged individuals who are not able to pay their electricity bills or gas bills.
This relief can be received from many community welfare organisations where EAPA vouchers are distributed. The EAPA can be received by people suffering from a a loss of income, excessive electricity or gas bills, an illness or crisis in the family or other criteria that are stipulated by each organisation.

south australia
The SA Government offers a yearly pensioner energy rebate to cover gas and electricity accounts. This rebate is available for a pensioner's primary place of residence.

australian capital territory
The ACT Government offers natural gas concessions. To be eligible you must hold a:
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)
- Centrelink Health Care Card (HCC)
- Veteran's Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
tasmania
The Tasmanian Government offers pensioners a yearly allowance of $56 to help with the cost of heating. However, this concession is means-tested. The rebate can be used with either gas or electricity.
