Switchwise can help you find a better deal on your electricity and gas and switch supplier in 4 easy steps:
1. enter your postcode & provide your current supply details
Simply enter your postcode into the search box on the Switchwise home page, select your suburb and click the compare now button. Next you will see a search form asking about your current supply details. Please provide as much information as you can; if you have a recent electricity bill and/or gas bill handy then even better - the more information you provide the more accurate the results. If you don't have a bill handy or are moving into a new house, you can choose to have your usage estimated based upon either your monthly spend or your household size and type.
2. compare electricity and gas plans
After you have clicked the search button a range of electricity and/or gas plans available in your suburb will be displayed ranked by estimated cost. Our search results table also displays a plan's estimated annual costs & savings compared to your current plan as well as other features such as each supplier's customer service rating, the plan's contract term and early termination fees and each plan's GreenPower rating where applicable.
You can click on each supplier's logo, name or plan to see the tariffs, key features, benefits and terms & conditions applicable to that plan.
Once you have reviewed your results and made a decision about your preferred energy supplier and plan, simply click on the orange apply button where displayed to start the process of changing your supplier or connecting the home you are moving into. For some suppliers you might also see a 1300 telephone number you can call should you wish to apply to switch over the phone. If you do not see an orange apply button that means that we cannot accept applications for that plan or retailer via our website; in such cases you would have to contact the supplier directly to arrange your switch or connection.
3. enter your details
Once you have decided on a plan that suits your needs and are content to apply online, simply click the apply button and you will be directed to our supplier application form. Please enter your personal details as completely and accurately as possible to ensure your switch or connection request can be easily processed by your chosen provider. Once you have entered your details and accepted the terms and conditions click on the next step button. Please note that only the current account holder(s) are legally allowed to switch suppliers.
4. review & switch
A page summarising your details and selected supplier and plan will be displayed. Please ensure all the information presented is correct. If you wish to choose another supplier or plan at this stage you can click the modify plan button or, if any of your details are incorrect, please click the change my details button to amend your personal information. Once you are happy with the information you have provided simply click the send application button.
You can now relax. We'll send you a confirmation email and contact your chosen supplier.
You will then receive a confirmation by email or post from your new supplier and they will contact your current supplier to arrange the transfer. The transfer will happen after your next scheduled meter read: up to three months each for electricity and gas. If you are moving into a new house, the connection should occur on the date you have requested. You will receive a final bill from your old supplier.
Remember - if you change your mind there is a 10 day cooling off period should you change your mind and wish to stay with your current supplier or switch to another supplier.
