We display a wide selection of plans available from participating electricity and gas suppliers. Sometimes these plans may only be available online or via the switchwise website.

Today, gas and electricity plans include a number of features that might be of interest to you, including:

fixed term plans

These are plans where you commit to stay with a supplier for a period of 1, 2 or 3 years. If you cancel the plan within the fixed-term period then you will usually have to pay an early termination fee. If you move home you can usually transfer your supplier with you. The main advantage of fixed term contracts is that they are usually cheaper as you are rewarded for your loyalty.

online plans

These are plans where you manage your account online and receive bills online. As well as being great for the environment, they are usually cheaper as the supplier is able to pass on cost savings to you.

bill smoothing

This is a great payment option that enables you to pay your electricity and gas bills in monthly amounts by direct debit. At the end of each year or quarter the amount you have paid is compared to the amount you have used. If you have overpaid this amount can be refunded to you. If you have underpaid, the supplier will either request a balancing payment or adjust your monthly payment amount accordingly. There are two main advantages of bill smoothing - it helps you to budget more effectively, avoiding the need to find money to pay big quarterly bills, and you automatically qualify for any pay-on-time discounts, thereby saving more.

greenpower plans

These are plans where a certain proportion of your energy use is either sourced from renewable sources (such as wind, solar, water or waste) or carbon credits are purchased by the supplier to offset your energy use. Green Power plans are usually more expensive than standard plans where energy is sourced from non-renewable sources such as coal.
